David E Jacobs

David E Jacobs, affectionately known as Jake, passed away from esophageal cancer at the age of 65 on July 1st 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was born in Jamaica, NY, to parents Irving and Thelma Jacobs, who were from the island of St Vincent and of biracial descent.

After attending Springfield Gardens High School and graduating at the age of 17 with merit, he joined the US Navy. David served four years in Barbers Point, Hawaii, and four more in Norfolk, Virginia. David traveled all over the world as a jet mechanic in a helicopter squadron. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1987, where he achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class (E6). He continued with the Naval Reserve for another twelve years while attending college in the field of avionics, where he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree and a master's degree in aeronautical engineering and technology.

David moved to Florida and lived in West Palm Beach for over 25 years, where he developed and loved many hobbies like music, books, sailing, and being the family historian.

David peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends. David leaves behind two brothers, two sisters, his brother-in-law, niece, nephew, cousins, and many treasured friends. David will be greatly missed by many for his laughter, kindness, wisdom, and caring heart.

David will be laid to rest on July 27, 2026, beside his parents with a military ceremony and award at Maple Grove Cemetery, located at 127-15 Kew Gardens Rd, NY Lot K-78-A4. We will then be celebrating his life with family and friends at one of his favorite places, the Atlantic dinner, located at 111-16 Atlantic Avenue, Queens, NY 11419
