With heavy hearts, the Sawa Family would like to announce the passing of our beloved mother Betty Sawa at the age of 98.

Born Elizabeth Don Sirling Allan in Glasgow, Scotland. At age 18, she married Walter Sawa (32), a displaced WWII Polish soldier, in February of 1947. A few years later, Betty and Walter made their journey across the Atlantic to America, and settled in Chicago, IL. There they raised their family of 5 children.

As the years passed, and after many business endeavors, Betty and Walter made their home in Friendship, Wisconsin. In their later years, they became seasonal residents, living part-time in Largo, Florida. Following Walter's passing in 2003, Betty stayed active and continued her seasonal travels between Florida and Dellwood, Wisconsin, enjoying family and friendships in both areas.

Eventually, Betty became a permanent Florida resident, living in St. Augustine and Jacksonville. She passed away peacefully at The Gables Assisted Living in Jacksonville, where she was deeply loved by the residents and staff. She was their "Resident Ambassador,"and welcomed new residents to the facility. Though many were years younger than her, she took great pride in her longevity and always greeted them with an unforgettable smile.

Betty leaves behind her five children: Stanley, Steven, Sandra, Edward, and Stuart. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
