Nancy Marie (Crandel) Linegar

Nancy Marie Linegar (Crandel) of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away on May 18, 2025. 

She was born on February 15, 1942, in Fayette County, Indiana, to Howard and Hazel Crandel. Nancy grew up in Franklin County, Indiana, attending Blooming Grove Elementary and graduating from Brookville High School in 1960. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Brookville Casket Company, later transferring to the Connersville Casket Company.

She met her future husband, John "JC" Linegar, while attending Brookville High School. At the time of their engagement, JC was serving in the military in France. They were married on September 9, 1962, at Blooming Grove Methodist Church. After JC returned from military service and graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy, the couple settled in New Lisbon, Indiana, where Nancy worked as a teacher’s aide. They welcomed two beloved children there: Denise Marie, born on September 20, 1964, and Timothy Edward, born on December 8, 1967. The family later moved to New Castle, Indiana, where Nancy became an active member of the New Castle Methodist Church.

In 2005, Nancy and JC retired to Bonita Springs, Florida, where she lived until her passing. Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Marie Linegar, and her son, Timothy Edward Linegar. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, JC Linegar, and her granddaughter, Addison Linegar.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Linegar Family Scholarship at Ball State University, 2800 W. Bethel Avenue, Muncie, IN 47304. A celebration of life with a memorial service will be held at a later date.
