It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter Niobe Leah Vaca,18. She passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, friends, and her sweet cats Nacho and Jean Clawed after a courageous and hard-fought battle with osteosarcoma.
Niobe was born on June 19th, 2008, to Jaime and Dorothy Vaca in Columbia, South Carolina. When there were breaks in between treatment, Niobe had attended Hempfield Highschool alongside her best friends. She was a 2026 high school graduate.
Despite Niobe’s circumstances, she faced every single day with remarkable bravery, strength and resilience. She always managed to be kind and make everybody laugh with her witty comments. This gift for finding humor in adversity inspired everyone who knew her. She refused to let her illness define her and hinder the love she felt for the people around her.
Niobe cherished connecting with her friends and family. She enjoyed the arts and was a talented piano player and a skillful artist. She had a deep passion for preserving mother earth and all the life on it. Niobe’s other interests included playing board games, baking and shopping on Depop for clothes and accessories.
Niobe will forever live on in our memories through everything she held dear, in the world she cherished, and in every smile that she had given us. She's written herself into the universe itself. She is an undying light that refuses to dim. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to MIB Agents. MIB agents is a non- profit organization serving the osteosarcoma community.
