Scott Lang, 59, passed away on June 10th, 2026 at Good Shepherd Hospice House, surrounded by love.
Born on January 26th, 1967, Scott lived in Candia, New Hampshire until 1972, when his family relocated to Florida, settling in the trailer park behind what is now Lang’s Service Center. From an early age, Scott enjoyed fishing with his father and best friend Craig and started working on cars alongside his brother- discovering a lifelong passion for the water, fishing, engines, racing, and speed. He graduated from Hardee Senior High and returned to New Hampshire in 1986, where he enjoyed oval track racing, hunting, and snowmobiling.
In 1993, Scott moved back to Wauchula, where he and his wife, Angel, built a life together. Scott and his brother Jim worked at the AAMCO on Highway 17 before opening Lang’s Service Center, a place that would become well known throughout the community. He was a hard working man, often spending weekends at the shop to finish jobs and keep business flowing. He was always ready to lend a hand—whether it was helping someone in need or getting a neighbor’s vehicle back on the road.
An outdoorsman at heart, Scott loved fishing (and guarded his fishing spots well) and hunting. He continued his love of racing switching from oval track to drag cars, chasing top speed and the lowest time—never tiring of the smell of race fuel and burning rubber, or the thrill of the run. Throughout his life Scott faced significant medical challenges, meeting them with uncommon strength, grit, and determination.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Angel Lang; two daughters, Bethany and Whitney; three grandchildren; and five siblings: Ted (Sue), Tom (Kay), Ellen, Ed (Wanda), and Jimmy (Tracy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Stephanie and Dale, who were faithfully by his side day and night in his final days. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and siblings Pat and Dan.
Scott’s impact on Hardee County was felt widely, but his greatest pride was his family. He was the steady presence—the glue—who kept everyone connected, encouraged gatherings, and made sure there was always opportunity for laughter and togetherness.
Now free of pain and the burdens of this world, Scott is doing what he loved most—hitting the fastest lick he could imagine, grinning, saying, “Man, this is cool!!” and heading off to go fishing after.
A celebration of life is being planned for July 25th, 2026 details will be released at a later date.
