Theresa Ann Buidens (Cano) was set free from her body and called home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2026. Terry, as she was known by loved ones, was born November 18, 1956 in Dade City, Florida. Terry is preceded in death by her loving parents, Catherine Jane Cano (Bassett) and Jesus Cano, Jr., as well as siblings Walter Lee Cano (Furoung), Justina Assenza and sister-in-law Judith “Judy” Cano.
Terry is survived by her cherished daughter, Karina Lea Anna Bogue, son-in-law, Bob Bogue and her treasured grandchildren, Blake Jackson Bogue and Madison JoAnna Bogue of Sarasota, Florida. She is also survived by her siblings, Jane Jenkins, Jessie Cano (Susie) and Martin Cano, all of Tampa. Her best friends of more than 50 years, Elizabeth Hall-Cano and Debbie Thiel, are considered part of their family.
Aunt Terry had a special relationship with her many nieces and nephews: Kenny Leon (Gina), Melanie Leon (Jason), Kerri Arroyo (Ishmael), Joleigh “Rosita” Cano, Marci Cano, Carson Cano (Sarah), Samantha Adams (Andrew) and Mei Lee Cano. She was also a proud great-aunt to many more great-nieces and great-nephews: Ariella Serrano, , Ishmael “Junior” Arroyo, Anthony Leon, Jacob Arroyo, Avi “Guadalupe” Sonnenberg-Cano, Olivia Robles, Izeal Cano Puga, Cassandra “Cassie” Cano, Luke Arroyo, Claire Adams, James Adams and Nora Gill. Terry is survived by her husband, David Buidens, of St Petersburg, Florida. Through her marriage with David, she became a loving stepmom to Danny Buidens (Vanessa), Jeff Buidens, and Becky Lang (Nick) and she loved being a bonus grandma to Jeffrey Buidens, Yazmin Buidens, Kennedy Lang, Jackson Lang and Lydia Lang. Terry was especially proud of her close friendship with her step-children’s mom, Anne Crockett.
After her beginnings in Dade City, her family lived in Brooksville followed by Tampa, where Terry attended Hillsborough High School. She became a mom in 1975 and describes this as the greatest joy of her life. Terry balanced being a single mom with a career in the dental industry, where she was known for her pleasant personality and keeping the chairs full. She spent decades managing prominent dental practices in the Tampa Bay area. She also was an instructor, then Placement Director, at Concorde Career Institute. This position relocated Terry and Karina from Tampa to Houston. This allowed Terry to deepen her roots with her father’s family in Texas, a time she valued sharing with her daughter and extended family. Terry returned to Florida, spending the rest of her life in St. Petersburg. Terry enjoyed creating art, cooking and baking – especially baking cakes for celebrations. She loved collecting and sharing jewelry. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren, Blake and Madison.
Terry was given a second chance at life on September 15, 2014 when she received the donation of a liver transplant at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. This gift gave her many more years with her family and friends. Terry spent her final months at Mayo Clinic where they once again gave her more precious time with loved ones. Her family is thankful for all of the dedicated medical professionals at Mayo Clinic.
A Celebration of Life is being planned, details will be updated once finalized.
